Getting in the last of the sweets!!!

Everyone has been sending me texts today about what they are eating!

Kool-Aid killed some cupcakes!
Mandy Goch is missing her maple oat walnut bread already!
Girls-Night ate enough M&M's to fill a pinata the size of a real horse! (she actually texted me that she might puke because of her sugar exploits)
Male Nurse and Emily snorted chocolate gelato!
And when I'm done writing this,  Ashley and I are going straight to Menchies to get some frozen yogurt!!!

we also picked up new competitors!
100SFD's is happy to welcome Heather, Meghan, John and Julia Doty, Chief Lori, Mike Kerner, Baby Kate, and Mini-Mandy! (see pic on right)

T minus 4 hours and counting

V Day *barf*

No, I really like holidays. All of them, any of them. I love a theme. I dress up for Presidents Day (Baberham Lincoln). But I woke up feeling super nauseated... was it the Cadbury bars for dinner last night?

I'm sooo silly. I didn't even feel like having sweets but I forced myself, like old school parents who make their kids smoke a pack of cigarettes when they catch them smoking, "get it out of your system!"

I'm really excited for tomorrow. My brother & his wife are in, too! I'm going to not have the things on the "allowed" list (except fruit) because this ain't my first sugar free rodeo. And the last time I went that route before I knew it I was downing spoonfuls of honey, carrying around one of those little glass Maple leaf bottles in my purse like a flask (I have family in Canada-- we've got the maple connect BIG time) & sipping it on the sly... the only one I was fooling was myself.

I'm better with extremes.

I'm also skipping the rage-a-mahol. Tastes so good when it hits my lips. I'm not the biggest booze fiend BUT 1) drunken munchies have led my people to many a disgrace, like hitting the T Bell at 4am for $.99 half pound burrito & a side of chemie churros. Mistakes are made at the highest levels 2) when you're hungover, you can't deny any craving because you have to go for anything that you think might help you get out of that hole. Not going to do it, wouldn't be prudent.

Okay, love you all! Hope your Valentine's Day is sweet, in all senses of the word, because the experiencing sweetness will soon be only in the abstract sense!

BREAKING NEWS!

100SFD's would like to welcome a new competitor!

The Nurse and Emily go shopping

D-Thom (aka male nurse) and Emily sent me some pics of them sugar free shopping yesterday, they were diligent with reading their labels and word on the street is that they are going to be doing some P90X along with the 100SFD's! Everyone get ready to see some results!

After some serious research here is what they found-

Bananas - (good) no refined sugar
Yoo-Hoo - (bad) lots of refined sugar

WORKOUT #2

Hey everyone!
Here is a great workout Tyler and I just finished this morning with Kenny Kane.  It's a great one to do if you have access to a couple different treadmills, a speedwheel, a rowing machine, medicine balls, a rope and a pullup bar....  doesn't everyone have all those just laying around?! Nevertheless, it was another awesome one, so we thought we'd share.

The workout is 4 rounds of the following:
0.10 mile on the Speed Wheel (self-powered curved treadmill)
hop off, straight into:
     0.10 mile on a treadmill at 10% incline at a 8.0 pace
hop off, straight into:
250 meter row on the indoor rowing machine
straight into:
0.10 mile on a treadmill at 0% incline at a 10.0 pace or higher
straight into:
15 overhead throws with a 6 lb. medicine ball- try to hit a mark on the wall about 9 ft. high standing 15 ft. away from the wall
straight into:
(Ashley's version) 8 rope pulls- from a laying position pull yourself up and lower back down using arms only
(Tyler's Version) Monkey Bar climbs across a bar and back 4 times

All 4 rounds of all of that took Tyler and I about 26 minutes to complete. Tyler started first, and once he was finished on the speed wheel I began.  This created a nice game of chase for the whole 26 minutes.
0.10 mile on Speed Wheel
0.10 mile at 10% incline at 8.0 pace
250 meter row

0.10 mile  at 10.0 pace or higher
15 Overhead medicine ball throws

8 Rope Pulls for Ashley's version  Up...
 ...and back down
Bars used for Tyler's Version

Mitch & Vanessa kicking ass and taking names!

I stopped by Mitch and V's house today! they said that they were game for trying the work out i put up earlier... we did it at the park and they were beasts!! We adjusted for pull ups and push ups with V (she did jumping pulls and knee pushups) nice work guys!

They were neck and neck for most of the 20 minutes but in the end Mitch pulled away.

Mitch completed 10 rounds and was closing in on 11. Vanessa finished 10 and started the 11th!

NOPE!

I know we technically have 5 days left before the 100 days of sugar free shred officially begins but I'm getting a running start.... no matter the price donuts are off the list!!!

WORKOUT #1 - goodbye off season

Good Morning Everyone!

I told you that I would be blogging all of my workouts for these 100 days.. so here is the first!

Its an ass kicker, courtesy of Kenny Kane!!! (more on him later, he will be making many appearances in this blog I promise)

"FLYING CINDY" - It takes 20 minutes exactly so if you've got a little extra time try and get a good sweat in with this

The rep scheme is as follows-
20 minutes, as many rounds as possible!

  • 5 pull-ups with release grip at the top (this is where the "flying" comes in) - if you cant do the flying adjust as necessary, try just pull-ups / pull-ups with a band / jumping pulls
  • 10 pushups with release hands and clap at the top (more of the "flying") -you can adjust this with regular pushups/ knee pushups
  • 15 jumping squats (full squat, then jump straight up with full hip extension, FLY!) -adjustment can be regular squats

I was able to do 11 rounds of this in the sand in 20 minutes

Its a beast,  you might puke if you're giving it 100%! Get after it! Its only 20 minutes of your day!

When you are done make sure you High-5 someone! (This is me High-5'ing Kenny)

It's almost go-time...are you ready?! [Imagine Tman screamin' this just like Oprah.]

100DOS'ers!
Let's do this...I know, I know. You are gonna be asked by many a friend, "Why are you subjecting yourself to this misery?" Yeah, so you can't have bubble gum or brownies--BFD. You're gonna feel like a superhero and your abs are gonna look like one, too. I was one of the last (wo)men standing for the 80-Day-No-Sugar-Challenge...and lives were changed. Yep, every party, cookout or I attended I wore my badge of honor and said, "Sorry, Suga'." People asked and I told 'em, I play to win and I play hard. Okay, maybe the only life changed was mine, but it felt good--really good and here's my slap on ass to you to say..."Go get 'em, tiger. We got this. See ya Sugar, and hello Shred."
I wanna hear what you're gonna miss most...spill it!

Adios Reese's Cups...

Well, its official... the nightmares have begun

Last night was the Reese's Cup dream... It was lovely, that peanut butter chocolaty magic melting in my mouth.... I will miss you for the next 108 days dear friend!

Last year i was having nightmares that i was eating sugar pretty much every night ... well maybe they weren't nightmares they might have been fantasies..

If you haven't kicked sugar before, you might want to get used to this.  I remember Lannie calling me quite often and telling me how vivid his sugar nightmares were.

Sugar... but maybe more?

Hey everyone,
I've been speaking with people who are excited about the 100SFD (100 sugar free days) and I'm getting a lot of positive responses! There are a ton of people who are interested and gearing up to make the leap on February 15th!

I want to stress that although sugar is the cornerstone of this challenge, please feel free to cut anything else out of your diet (or life) for the 100 days. or on the flip, feel free to add stuff like yoga or regular exercise.
this is your challenge! customize and tailor it for your needs.

For me, i want to be in the best shape of my life on my 30th birthday in July.  I'm going to try and exercise a ton. I will be blogging everyday I work out.

Ash is going to try and limit her carb intake. Her weakness is bread. (inside secret- watch her eyes light up when a waiter puts a basket of bread down. its like crack to her so watch your fingers near her mouth)

Roy I'm sure is going to try and do a bunch of yoga classes and running.

Mama Kerner said she was going to try and do her best to stop with her weakness which happens to be potato chips. (I've tempted her with this picture on the right)

take the next few days and set some personal goals.

9 DAYS TILL WE START!

Body Fat Testing! aka Body Blubber Exam!

Yesterday Roy, Molly, Tyler and I did ours in Santa Monica.  We found a truck that has a bath for that in the back of it.. Yeah, it was strange at first to think "I'm getting in the back of a truck to climb into a warm bath and let a stranger look at me in a bathing suit?!". But you get over it fast! Its really professional and Linda (the owner) was like a scientist. After it was all said and done we got a 4 page print out of things like amount of muscle mass we have, calories we burn just resting every day,  how many pounds of pure blubbery fat we have on all of our bodies (Or should I say that I have resting around my hips).

BONUS ALERT!!!  We also killed 2 birds with 1 stone since we all got weigh ins too (see pics below)

It cost $49 and was well worth it!

Linda @ www.bodyfattest.com was amazing, helpful, and super knowledgeable!  We can't wait to get our tests done after the 100 days and see the gains we've made.
